About the Group:
DAVID COLEMAN - Director David founded Confirmation in 1999 to create a unique music ministry for enriching the
spirits of all who participate. He holds a Bachelors in Music in both piano performance and theory/composition from Boston
University and an M.A. in music composition from Tufts University. In addition to his work with the group Confirmation, David
is actively involved in gospel music throughout New England. He is currently Director of Choral Music at the Dana Hall School
in Wellesley, the Director of Tufts University Third Day Gospel Choir, and he has taught at the Boston Conservatory, the Boston
University Tanglewood Institute, the Walnut Hill School, Phillips Academy Andover, and Beaver Country Day School. For more
than a decade, he also directed the Boston University Inner Strength Gospel Choir and several choirs at St. Paul's African
Methodist Episcopal Church in Cambridge, MA. In 2007, he received the Thomas A. Dorsey Gospel Music Award from the New England
Conservatory. He has recently released his own CD of songs, entitled “Spirit of the Minstrel,” which is
available at www.cdfreedom.com.
CARLISA BROWN - Alto Carlisa studied music at the Peabody Institute
of Music and Performing Arts in Maryland for over 10 years. Carlisa has performed with the Boston College (BC) Chorale concert
choir, the BC jazz ensemble, and the BC marching band, where she had the opportunity to sing solos at halftime shows and the
national anthem at a home football game. She currently cantors at the contemporary masses held at Saint Ignatius Church in
Chestnut Hill, MA and regularly makes guest solo appearances for the Boston Archdiocese. Carlisa has been a member of Confirmation
since its inception in 1999.
CRYSTAL DIXON - Soprano/Alto Music has always been an integral part of
Crystal's life. In high school, she performed in the symphonic orchestra and the All-State Chorus. She has directed the MIT
Gospel Choir, the Massachusetts Avenue Baptist Church choir, and the Brooks School gospel choir. Crystal has been a member
of Confirmation since 2001.
GEORGE FURTADO - Tenor George has been singing all his life. He has performed
with the New England Conservatory Millenium Choir and with the New Temple Singers of St. Paul's African Methodist Episcopal
Church in Cambridge, MA. George has been a member of Confirmation since its inception in 1999.
SHAUNIELLE
MCDONALD - Soprano Shaunielle began her singing career with the children’s choir at Calvary Baptist Church in Haverhill,
MA, and later co-directed Calvary's youth and teen choir. She has performed with the Boston University Inner Strength Gospel
Choir and the New England Conservatory Millennium Gospel Choir, and has done solo work at churches throughout New England.
Currently, she directs the Brooks School gospel choir. Shaunielle has been a member of Confirmation since its inception in
1999.
CHARITY
CURTIS - Alto New to Confirmation, Charity was a soloist with the Tufts University Third Day Gospel Choir before joining
our ensemble. She has also studied music and dance at Interlochen Center for the Arts and Northwestern University School
of Music.
JONATHAN RINGER - Tenor
Jonathan has been a "choirboy" for as long as he can remember. He was very active in the
music ministry at his church in New York, leading praise and worship as well as singing in his church choir. Jonathan has
studied music all throughout his days in school, as well as being a member of the concert and jazz bands, where he played
the Alto Saxophone. He was an active member of the Songs of Solomon Inspirational Ensemble of Harlem, NY. During
his time with the organization, he had opportunities to perform at the Apollo in NY, to sing behind 1st American
Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson, at the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks event in New York City, and to participate
in various gospel competitions. At Tufts University, he was an active member of the Tufts Third Day Gospel Choir and
has held leadership roles in the choir. Jonathan joined Confirmation in 2008.
